* There are only 36,400 residents in District 7A so I'm not certain what this number represents This is the famous picture of Harry Truman waving the Chicago Tribune the day after his victory over the Republican Presidential candidate Dewey. The Tribune had the banner headline "Dewey Defeats Truman" across it but it was just their conservative publisher's wishful thinking. I didn't believe the polls for one minute. They showed Johnson leading me by 68 to 1. So I went to bed a loser and woke up a . . . Well, I wasn't certain until 10AM because of a software glitch in the balloting machinery. Even though I didn't know it as I rubbed the sleep out of my eyes I woke up a winner. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
