Taxes & Jobs Jobs Jobs

One of the legacies of Northeastern Minnesota's past is an over reliance on public employment. Every economic downturn has put pressure on local office holders to create jobs at taxpayer expense. This seems particularly true on the Iron Range.

We have also fostered an anti-business ethos and emphasized taxes on business while allowing this government employment to balloon. Its no wonder that business is inclined to move to Southern and "right to work" states.

This was generally chalked up to its socialistic system of "cradle to grave" care. Its true that few people are truly impoverished in  Sweden, and health care is available for everyone, but this state of existence has come at a cost.
