Issues

Every candidate is warned by politically astute advisors to campaign on only two or three big ideas. Any more and the public will lose focus. In fact, I have three big issues in mind but voters have a right to know what I think about a host of issues of particular interest to them and while I will not work vigorously on the "other" issues I have opinions on them and being acquainted with my opinions is a guide to how I'm likely to vote if they come before the legislature.

Welfare Reform Jesse Ventura puts is pretty well (I wonder who wrote this for him?)

Farm Subsidies Robert Samuelson puts it better than I could

Wedge Issues Issues which are divisive and interfere with effective government but which are based on deeply held conviction hence the divisiveness.

Project Vote Smart although the information in this website is two years old this is an incredibly ambitious project. It attempts to give a variety of issue related information on every legislative candidate in the nation. That's over 7,000 legislative seats. I filled out my form for the 2000 election.  My 2002 form has been sent in but not entered into the data base as pf 10-17-2001. I noted some differences in the two year old form from the one I just sent in for this year.
